Privacy Policy — Value Density

Value Density ("the extension") is a browser extension that analyzes YouTube videos and shows how much of a video is substantive content versus filler, along with a short summary, key takeaways, and timestamps to skip to. This policy explains what data the extension handles and how.

Who we are
Value Density is an independent project by ADHD Boy. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YouTube or Google.

What data the extension handles
Your Gemini API key(s). You provide your own Google Gemini API key (or several keys) in the extension settings. These keys are stored locally on your own device using the browser's storage. They are never sent to us or to any server other than Google's official Gemini API, which uses them to authenticate your own requests. We never see, collect, or transmit your keys.

The video URL you choose to analyze. When you click the Analyze button on a video, the extension sends that video's URL to the Google Gemini API so Gemini can watch the video and return the analysis. This request goes directly from your browser to Google. No video URL is sent to us or stored on any server we control.

Analysis results. The result returned by Gemini is shown in the extension panel and kept temporarily in memory during your browsing session. It is not transmitted anywhere and is cleared when you close the tab.

What we do NOT do
We do not have our own servers and do not receive any of your data.

We do not collect, store, sell, or share your personal information.

We do not track your browsing history.

We do not run any analysis automatically. The extension only acts when you click.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness, or lending.

Third-party service
The only third party involved is Google's Gemini API, used to perform the video analysis with your own API key. Your use of that service is governed by Google's Privacy Policy and terms: https://policies.google.com/privacy

Data retention
Your API keys remain on your device until you remove them in the extension settings or uninstall the extension. Analysis results are not retained beyond your active browsing session.

Permissions
storage: to save your Gemini API keys and model choice locally on your device.

host access to www.youtube.com: to add the analysis button and result panel onto the video page you are viewing.

host access to generativelanguage.googleapis.com: to send the chosen video URL to your own Google Gemini account for analysis.

Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same URL with a new "Last updated" date.
